Canadian Thanksgiving Luncheon
WHEN: Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Social hour 11 a.m. Lunch 12 noon.
WHERE: Presidio Golf & Concordia Club, West Pacific Avenue, The Presidio, San Francisco.
From California St. take Arguello St. north to the end, pass through the gate and take an immediate left on West Pacific Avenue and drive down to the Club House. It is a grey building on your left facing the golf course. Free parking is in front and down the hill. Club telephone: 415-379-2520
COST: $65.00 per person. Guests & gentlemen are most welcome and encouraged.
MENU: Turkey, vegetables, stuffing, and gravy! And as a vegetarian entrée, Sweet Potato & Chickpea Bowl. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE ANY DIETARY SUBSTITUTIONS OR RESTRICTIONS ON YOUR RESERVATION SLIP. We are unable to get changes to the menus.

PROGRAM: We’ll welcome Frances Rivetti, an award winning independent journalist and author who lives in the Bay Area. Frances draws on years of knowledge and experience as a reporter and seasoned storyteller, especially when it comes to Northern California's richly historical and innovative farmstead frontier. Originally from a small English market town near the Cambridgeshire Fens, she began as a UK reporter before an unexpected leap of love brought her to California. Come and hear her story!

We always welcome your contributions and hope you’ll keep our raffles in mind when you come across a certain item that would make a great gift for a lucky attendee. BOOK CLUB:
A small contingent of CWC readers & friends meet every couple of months on Zoom to discuss a book by a Canadian author. We just finished reading and discussing ‘Adrift’ by Lisa Brideau. It is an intriguing story that takes place in the near future! But NO AI ! It’s great (at least this writer thought so!)
Next meeting will be September 24. Join us – it’s fun! Questions? Call Cathy Lewis at 415-297-5170.
DUES ARE DUE !!: By the end of September. Those who have already submitted your dues, many thanks.
2026-2027 dues are $60.00. Such a small price to pay & belong to such a wonderful Club that offers terrific speakers along with great lunches every month during our regular season. Please include your dues amount with the luncheon charge and send your check in the self-addressed RSVP envelope or send to the Membership Chair, Marilyn St. Germain Hall, 1112 Balboa Way, Pacifica, CA 94044.
You don’t want to miss out on another great year of luncheon speakers arranged by our Program Coordinator, Joan Gill. Members’ suggestions re: speakers or programs are always welcome. Please direct them to Joan at her email address: ludditej@yahoo.com or chat her up at a future meeting.
PHILANTHROPY:
Philanthropy is our "raison d'être." The net profit from our May Fundraiser along with some of our CWC funds were sent to the four Bay Area Food Banks that we have been supporting for the last few years. As you may know, the Food Banks are concerned now that the current Administration has drastically reduced benefits for the underserved. Please support the Food Banks on your own if you are able.

Canadian Studies is proud to partner with the Digital Moose Lounge for their annual Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner! Tickets ($80.00) can be purchased from the Digital Moose Lounge.
NOVEMBER MEETING:
The Remembrance and Memorial Day meeting will be held on November 11 at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco. Please place this date on your calendars. The speaker will be noted in next month’s Newsletter.
