Canadian Women's Club (CWC) is a social and charitable organization whose purpose is to bring together Canadian women, those with Canadian ties, and friends with an interest in Canada.
Philanthropy is a large part of our "raison d'être." We hold two fundraisers each year: a Silent Auction and Bake Sale in December and a Fashion Show in May. All proceeds raised benefit local charities. Twice yearly, we distribute funds in order to recognize organizations in each of these four Bay areas: North Bay, Peninsula, East Bay, and the city of San Francisco, reflecting our members' home communities.
Canadian Women's Club of the San Francisco Bay area was founded in 1965 by the wife of the Canadian Consul General in San Francisco. Since that time, we have grown at times to well over 100 members, approximately 100 members currently. Members come from throughout the Bay Area.
Luncheon meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from September to May. Each luncheon program includes an informative and entertaining speaker from the Bay area. December and May are designated for fundraising — December with a Holiday Luncheon, Silent Auction and Bake Sale and the month of May with our Annual Spring Fashion Show Luncheon Fundraiser. Guests, including gentlemen, are welcome at all our events.
We alternate venues between the Basque Cultural Center, 599 Railroad Avenue, South San Francisco (January, March, May, November) and the Presidio Golf & Concordia Club, 8 Presidio Terrace, The Presidio, San Francisco (February, April, September, October, December).
We welcome Canadian women as well as those with Canadian ties and friends who express an interest in Canada.
CWC welcomes new members! The membership fee is $45 per year payable by October 1st. Upon payment of dues, each member receives a Club Roster and a monthly newsletter (September through May) announcing the upcoming meeting and Club news. Join now!
